Ben first joined Murray Nankivell in 1993 as a trainee accountant, where he completed his Bachelor of Commerce and Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualifications. In 2000, Ben left the firm to take on the role of Chief Financial Officer for a locally operated manufacturing business. Over the next 19 years, he worked closely with the management team to help grow the company from 28 employees at one site to over 150 employees across three locations in three different states.
During his time in the manufacturing industry, Ben maintained his taxation qualifications but focused primarily on cost accounting, job costing, cash flow management, budgeting, and margin analysis—key factors that contributed to the business’s success. He also developed an in-depth understanding of complex HR matters, including National Employment Standards, various employment Awards, Enterprise Bargaining Agreements, and the intricacies of Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
When the business was sold, Ben saw it as an opportunity to explore a new chapter in his career. With the rise of cloud-based accounting software, Ben recognized this as an area where he could bring valuable expertise to Murray Nankivell and their clients.
Outside of work, Ben is involved in various community groups around Bordertown. His personal interests include spending time with his family, traveling, and following sports.
