John, who was a Director of Murray Nankivell until 2023, has been a dedicated professional in the accountancy field since 1984. His focus is on providing clients with practical advice regarding taxation and business management, always striving to add value to their financial affairs.
John’s strength lies in his “whole of business” approach, which allows him to fully understand his clients' needs and offer tailored solutions that benefit their financial well-being. With extensive experience in all areas of accounting, he has worked with a wide range of industries, including primary production, real estate, medical services, and professional businesses.
Raised on the family farm in Apsley, Victoria, John is the son of retired farmers Reg and Marg Burgess. His farming background gives him a unique understanding of the challenges and conditions affecting businesses in the South East of South Australia and Western Victoria. Before settling in Bordertown, John gained valuable experience in audit and business services with one of the Big 4 firms, first in Mount Gambier and later in Brisbane.
Outside of work, John is actively involved in various community groups in Bordertown. His personal interests include spending time with his family and enjoying sports.
